So I just posted a tremendous parade article that lists some of MLK’s most moving quotes that remind us to be the best that the world has to offer. I’ve grabbed just a few that really speak to me and I think speak to what I am trying to get people to realize with this blog (besides the fact that He loves us so much that He sent his son). In doing that, it wasn’t a one time act where He did it and then stopped caring. It was the ultimate sacrifice of a parent because He Loves us so. We must remember something though that we seem to so easily disregard if it does not suit us — we are Agents of Him. Dr King said many great things, in fact so many, I could probably write a small book about it. Today, I choose to focus on quotes that illustrate the life I choose to live.
I’ve said this before and I will say it again, ultimately, it’s all about choice. God designed us to have free will and expects that we will use it. His most loyal and loving followers are going to be the ones that choose to be the “vessels” and so are joyful in their mission. We cannot spread His Love and Hope if some part of us is huffing under our breath or looking at our metaphorical watch to see when we are “off the clock”. Loving others and being kind and generous does not have a time table.
Maybe you are a bit lost in that thing that always seems to add up to nothing less than a disappointment. Dr King once said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” God understands that we will struggle to accept the closed doors. That we sometimes sit against them…maybe even beat against them a time or two (yep that’s me). I’ll even go back and check just to make sure it’s REALLY closed. The key, that I’ve been learning in the recent past is just because something is disappointing or makes you sad, the real struggle is to remain hopeful that the reason for the disappointment is a greater hope of such great things to come. Perhaps if you got the success that you are now seeing as a disappointment, you’d miss the greater gift you’d get in turn for holding out hope and remaining faithful. Faithful to the fact that there is a plan. HE LOVES YOU. (BTW you have a tremendous power to pass that love on to others as well). And so, end your night with me on a high note — make the decision to be HOPEFUL.
